Have you ever taken a pinch of salt and just drop it in your mouth? The average person cringes at this thought. That's too much on your tongue, your taste buds go crazy and you wince almost as if it was a sour candy.
Yet, if you've ever added salt to your food, you know it brings out the brilliance of other flavors and increases the pleasure of the eating experience.
This thought was mentioned in the new book The Five Senses by Gretchen Rubin which I read this week, and i got me thinking about teams, sports, or corporate.
How can you be the right kind of salt?
On a hockey team, or in the office, too much individual effort sours. Your teammates feel left out, and don't see you as a team player. It just doesn't work when you go out on your own.
Yet, when you add your talents to the team, and work with them, the beauty in your team comes out much like the flavors in food.
Teams that work together, thrive together.
So how can you be the salt on your team? Are you going to sour it, or make it better?
